STACKING THE SHELVES

STSmall
This is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews. I think this is so much fun! Join in and meet other bloggers too.

What is Stacking The Shelves all about?

We are all book lovers and the need to share our enthusiasm is sometimes overwhelming. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

If you’re anything like me, you are probably hoarding books and even though you are excited about your latest book arrival, it might be a while before you get to review it and Stacking The Shelves is a good way to express your undying enthusiasm for those titles!

Stacking the ShelvesThis is what I've stacked on my shelves this week:

Inhale (Just Breathe, #1)
by Kendall Grey

Strangers in reality, inseparable in dreams…
After years of suffocating under her boss’s scrutiny, whale biologist Zoe Morgan finally lands a job as director of a tagging project in Hervey Bay, Australia. Success Down Under all but guarantees her the promotion of a lifetime, and Zoe won’t let anything—or anyone—stand in her way. Not the whale voices she suddenly hears in her head, not the ex who won’t take no for an answer, and especially not the gorgeous figment of her imagination who keeps saving her from the fiery hell of her dreams.

Gavin Cassidy hasn’t been called to help a human Wyldling in over a year, which is fine by him. Still blaming himself for the death of his partner, he keeps the guilt at bay by indulging in every excess his rock star persona affords. That is, until he’s summoned to protect Zoe from hungry Fyre Elementals and learns his new charge is the key to restoring order in the dying Dreaming. He never expects to fall for the feisty Dr. Morgan…nor does he realize he may have to sacrifice the woman he loves to save an entire country.

*This book contains graphic language, sex, and some violence. Not suitable for readers under the age of 18.

**The author will donate all profits from the sale of the JUST BREATHE trilogy to programs that educate people about whales and the challenges they face

by Abbi Glines

Predestined (Existence Trilogy, #2)
You would think after helping save her boyfriend from an eternity in Hell that things would go back to normal. Well, as normal as life can be when you can see souls and your boyfriend is Death. But for Pagan Moore, things are just getting weirder.

The high school quarterback and reigning heartthrob, Leif Montgomery, is missing. While the town is in a frenzy of worry, Pagan is a nervous wreck for other reasons. Apparently good ‘ol Leif isn’t your average teenage boy. He isn’t even human. According to Death, Leif doesn’t have a soul. The quarterback may have skipped town but he’s still showing up in Pagan’s dreams... uninvited.

Dank has known from the beginning Leif wasn’t human. But he hadn’t worried about a simple soulless creature. Now, he realizes he made a grave mistake. Pagan’s soul has been marked since birth as a restitution, to a spirit so dark not even Death walks near it. Dank knows saving Pagan’s soul won’t be easy but Pagan is his. And he’s already proven he’ll defy Heaven to keep her. If Hell wants a piece of him too, then bring it on.

TGIF

TGIF is a fun meme hosted by Ginger of GReads! Every week is an awesome new question, here's this weeks:

                      This Friday's Question:

Best I've Read So Far: We're half way through the year (crazy how time flies!), which top 3 books are the best you've read so far this year?

MY ANSWER:  Well it has been all 3 books of Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. I've never read or learned so much about "You know what" in my life!!!

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)  Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2)   Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3)

FRIDAY FLASH FICTION

Flash Friday Fiction (FFF) is a post hosted by Laura Besley at *Living, Loving, and Writing*. Flash Fiction is short enough to read while you're waiting for the kettle to boil. It's fairly quick to write too, but with it being so short, every word has to count.
As an aspiring writer and lover of fiction, I think this is awesome to read AND comment. Enjoy!

Friday Flash Fiction - week 7!

Hunger Pains

The only reason I was in that mad woman’s bedroom was because there wasn’t a scrap of food to be found anywhere else in the house. I was settling down for a nibble on some crisps she’d obviously dropped, when I heard her fling back the bed sheets. I panicked and thought if I sit really still she might not notice me. She swung her long tanned legs out of bed and tiptoed into the bathroom. She switched on the light – God, I hate it when they do that – and blinded me. But I didn’t let out a peep. I heard the tap run and she flicked the light off again. Was I safe? Standing only inches away from me, she switched on the bedside lamp. I was staring right into her blue eyes. As if in slow motion I knew what was going to happen; she let go of the glass and it shattered into a hundred pieces and the water splashed in my face. I needed to run and get out. I dropped all the food and scarpered. So, that’s why I’m late and have no food. Sorry.

God, Jerry, you’re useless.                                                     L. Besley

MY THOUGHTS: I want to know more! Is this a child or adult? I think whoever it is, is being held captive.

What do you think?

Get Me Off The Shelf!

Get Me Off The Shelf! is my edition of From the Review Pile from*Stepping Out of the Page*hosted by Stephanie. This will be a weekly meme on Thursdays.

The aim of this meme is to showcase books that you own but haven't yet got around to reading, in order to give the book some extra publicity. I thought it'd be helpful to readers/reviewers as well as publishers/authors to try and showcase books that you own but haven't had time to get around to.

This week I'm spotlighting:

The Awakening and The Struggle           (The Vampire Diaries #1-2)
By L.J. Smith
Published June 26,2007
The Awakening and The Struggle (The Vampire Diaries, #1-2)

MY THOUGHTS: Well, I went through my stack of books in a box, which was in my walk-in closet. Ta-da. . .
Here again (just like last week) is another favorite of mines that I just can't seem to pick up and read. And again, I love the TV series of Vampire Diaries. Maybe I shouldn't get books that have a TV version. Hmmm...

So share what's you need to get off your bookshelf, or floor, or box . . .

WAITING ON WEDNESDAY

This meme Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by *Breaking the Spine* "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I'm anticipating the following upcoming book, which seems freaking awesome!!!:

       Snow White Sorrow

                         Expected Publication: October 30, 2012

*Synopsis (via Goodreads)*

What if all you knew about fairy tales was wrong?
Sixteen year old Loki Blackstar is no Prince Charming. His mother is a ghost. His only friend is a red Cadillac that talks to him through the radio. He looks like an Angel but acts like jerk. No wonder he has been banned from Heaven, which is the least of his troubles. Loki needs a job to pay for school and support himself.

Still, Loki has a rare gift: He is a Dreamhunter. One of the few in the world who can hunt and kill immortal demons in their dreams so they never wake up again.

When Loki is sent to kill a sixteen-year-old vampire girl the locals call Snow White Sorrow, he is pulled into a magical but dangerous world. The locals believe the monster to be Snow White.

The real Snow White... living in the ruins of an ancient castle in a small town. She is described as horribly beautiful, terrifyingly enchanting, and wickedly lovely.

What he finds instead is a beautiful monster girl filled with rage and hurt, who has an epic untold story to tell of things such like why the Brothers Grimm altered the fairy tale, who the Evil Queen really is, where the mirror came from, and who possessed it.

Snow White has killed every person who has dared come near the castle where she once lived with the queen. Mysteriously, she lets Loki live.

This book sounds totally crazy, right? I can't wait!

Well there are prequels to this book that is already out which I'm going to read ...

My Teaser: A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young

*Kindle Edition*
A Need So Beautiful (A Need So Beautiful, #1)
"What? How did you . . . who are your?" Her lips begin to tremble and I can see the familiar glazed look in her eyes. The same look they all get when the knowledge hits them.

BOOK CHATTER

Book Chatter is a Meme that I created and will be posted on Mondays. I just thought it would be like a conversational type of Meme sharing any thoughts that we have about the Book Blog World through out the day.  We can talk about what we're trying to accomplish for today. What our goals are for the week. Any book news.

I'll start the Chatter by telling you my goals and other busy stuff going on for the day:

1.  Well I'm suppose to start reading, A Want so Wicked by Suzanne Young which is available tomorrow, but realized that I should begin reading, A Need so Beautiful, first which is also by Suzanne Young. Hopefully I'll get through the first book by the end of the week. Keep you posted.

2.  Another goal of mine is to try and get an author interview set up by the weeks end. I have yet to do any, so this is going to be nerve racking and fun!

3.  This one is on-going, so it will probably be in every Blog Chit-Chat post:  Writing a few hours a day. My alter ego will not forgive me if I don't.

That's it for me.

What are your goals today and this week?

WEEKEND WITH THE KIDS!

This is my weekend meme that I thought would be fun. It's book reviews done by my kids. Some may be older books, some new. Kids read too! Enjoy!

Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, Book 1) By Eion Colfer ( May 4, 2002)

Reviewed by Kye Phennicie (My son)

Artemis Fowl is about a boy named Artemis Fowl II who is the son of one of the world's top criminals, Artemis Fowl the first.

When Artemis's father goes missing , Artemis has to become the family man. The family finances start to plummet and so Artemis who is also one of the smartest masterminds of this century plans to kidnap a fabled creature called a fairy. But it turns out fairies are real and Artemis catches a fairy named Holly Short, and keeps the elf for ransom, but when the police come for her Artemis has a big problem on his hands!

*Synopsis by Kye Phennicie*

Kye's thoughts:
I personally liked this book because it was full of fantasy. It's well blended with modern day time to seem almost real. But my favorite part was the action of this book. It was really exciting and got my heart beating.

I would definitely recommend this book to someone who loves fantasy!

FIK*TISH*UHS NEWS

This is my weekly meme on Friday's to just chat about the goings on in the book world; Books to movies, bestsellers, author news, etc. Just about whatever you've heard or read about.

We just can't stop talking about Fifty Shades of Grey:

Well it seems that Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James, has opened the flood gates for erotic fiction. Bared to You, by Sylvia Day's erotic obsession is climbing the USA Today's Best-Selling book List at #10.
Berkley Books publisher (Bared to You distributor) will follow Bared to You's success with Because You Are Mine by Beth Kery, a serialized erotic romance eBook releasing July 31.

I still love my hardcover and paperback books, but how time changes things:

eBooks for the first time, revenues from the sale of eBooks has outstripped revenue from the hardcover sales.

If you have any news to share, please do. I'd love to hear about it!

I just don't know why I haven't read this book yet. I was all hyped about getting it and love the Sookie Stackhouse Series!

This is what happens I think, I get so wrapped up in the show True Blood that is based off of the books, so it kind of knocks off the edge for me. I don't know.

I'm a, pick the book that I'm in the mood for moment, kind of reader.

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK . . .

This is my book cover pick for the week:

*Picture from Author's Website

Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London
The first novel in the Darkness Before Dawn Trilogy

I think this cover is wickedly awesome!  I love the model's dress, and the way it's flowing from an unseen breeze along with her hair. The title letters are attractive, along with the letter "R" made like a mirror image. This cover makes me feel that the "Darkness" is an attractive thing, rather than something to be apprehensive about.
So what do you think? Does this cover match the story in anyway? I guess we have to read it to answer that. Let me know . . .

Fik*Tish*uhs News . . .

Fifty Shades . . .

*From USA TODAY*
Branding 'Fifty Shades': Ready to splash on Fifty Shades, the fragrance? Now that Caroline Mickler Limited has been appointed master licensing agent for the erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey, what products might we see? Watch out for "lingerie/sleepwear, apparel, fragrances, beauty products, bedding, home furnishings, stationery, jewelry and adult products."

Author Richelle Mead
*From The L.A. Times*
When Richelle Mead wrapped up her bestselling "Vampire Academy" series in 2010, some die-hard fans wanted it to go on forever. But Mead decided on a different tack: She launched a spin-off that picked up where "Last Sacrifice" left off, centering a new series on an alchemist named Sydney who is tasked with protecting a vampire princess. Her series Bloodlines second installment, The Golden Lily, was published Tuesday, June 12th. Mead is currently on tour and will stop at Barnes & Noble in Santa Monica on June 18.

FIK*TISH*UHS REVIEWS

Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3)
Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James

Publisher Date: April 17, 2012

Publisher: Vintage; Reprint edition

Pages: 592; Paperback

My gosh! How I already miss Christian ... and Ana. This book had me laughing, angry, talking to myself, and crying. But I love happy endings, and that I am grateful for. The cover of the book with the handcuffs, I feel signifies Christian being release from his past, moving on if you will. And of course using those cuffs on Ana a few times. Oh what joy!

If you can handle a lot of raunchy sex and lots of it and the "F" bombs through out, then this is the book for you.
I actually tried to put off reading this book because I was not yet ready to let it go, but my need to read it won out and I am sad to say I finished the book

It was wonderful to see the characters grow and change. I like that it had a little suspense and mystery too. What a brilliant idea that after the story ended, the author gave us a glimpse of how Christian felt and was thinking when he first laid eyes on Anastasia.

Do yourself a favor and read this series, you will be glad you did. I can't wait to see what this author creates next. Please E. L. James come out with another book soon!

When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy. Phoenix doesn't realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud.

I just love the dress the character is wearing!  Her pose with the gloomy background scene makes it look fantastic!

WHO IS FIK(TISH)UHS?

Profile Picture 3
Hi, I'm Sherri. . . and just to be clear I'm not [Fikt]shun, but I love her blog.

I love to read fiction, so writing reviews of books for a hobby is just an added pleasure to my list of things to do. I just can't read a good book without sharing what I've read. When I'm not reading, I'm writing.

By the way, if you like reading on the naughty or romantic side, visit my new blog FIK(TISH)UHS Pleasures.
