Romance Ramblings is my weekly spotlight on Historical Romance novels here on FIK*TISH*UHS Reviews. Here I will ramble on about new historical romance book releases, mini book reviews, upcoming historical romance books, and ramble, ramble, ramble.
Today's spotlight is a mini review:
Mine Till Midnight the first novel in Lisa Kleypas' Hathaway series.
Mass Market Paperback, 360 pages
Published October 2nd 2007
Published October 2nd 2007
by St. Martin's Press

As always Lisa never fails me! This is a hot, steamy romance. Good characters and second characters.
Amelia Hathaway has taken over the care of her siblings, an older brother and three younger sisters, after their parent's death. When her older brother inherits a title it only escalates his already reckless behaviour. Heartbroken he seeks solace in drinking, gambling and women. Leaving Amelia to chase after him and bring him home.
When she searches for him at a particular gambling house, she meets Cam Rohan, the wealthy half Gypsy/half Irish manager of the club. He helps her locate her brother a...moreThis was a fabulous story; Lisa Kleypas at her best. Cam and Amelia are wonderful characters. The chemistry between the two of them was so vivid. The Romany culture aspect is interesting and I also enjoyed the rest of the Hathaway family. I can't wait to read about Win and Merripen's story. This simple love story has twist and turns throughout, along with humor, some sorrow, paranormal activity and a little mystery, too. As I was reading it, I fell deeply in the atmosphere of love, despair, lust and bold ambitions. This 19th century passionate romance is riveting from start to finish! Lisa Kleypas has created a brilliant story, sweet romance, hot steaming scenes and the promise of an even better second installment!

Crazy about Covers, is my edition of The Bookworms 'Cover Crazy'. I'll pick a book(s) cover to discuss. I will talk about a few things: how pretty it is, show new cover reveals, different formats of covers, or showing different covers from around the world. My cover pick(s) this week is:
German Cover U.S Cover
Can true love be forgotten?
As the only scion who can descend into the Underworld, Helen Hamilton has been given a nearly impossible task. By night she wanders through Hades, trying to stop the endless cycle of revenge that has cursed her family. By day she struggles to overcome the fatigue that is rapidly eroding her sanity. Without Lucas by her side, Helen is not sure she has the strength to go on.
Just as Helen is pushed to her breaking point, a mysterious new Scion comes to her rescue. Funny and brave, Orion shields her from the dangers of the Underworld. But time is running out--a ruthless foe plots against them, and the Furies' cry for blood is growing louder.
As the ancient Greek world collides with the mortal one, Helen's sheltered life on Nantucket descends into chaos. But the hardest task of all will be forgetting Lucas Delos.
Josephine Angelini's compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding as an unforgettable love triangle emerges and the eternal cycle of revenge intensifies. Eagerly awaited, this sequel to the internationally bestselling "Starcrossed" delivers a gritty, action-packed love story that exceeds all expectations.
U.S. Paperback, reissue Kindle Edition, UK

Our journey began in fire... Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness-beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily... Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe . . .
The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.
ALINA
has been stealing for a long time. She’s a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she’s never been caught before. If she’s careful, it’ll be easy. If she’s careful.
QUINN
should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it’s also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn’t every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.
BEA
wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they’d planned a trip together, the two of them, and she’d hoped he’d discover her out here, not another girl.
And as they walk into the Outlands with two days’ worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?
MY THOUGHTS: Bared to You, I like the cuff links cover. Seems sophisticated.
Dreamless, I like, like, like the pretty U.S.cover, so serene.
Breathe, I prefer the Hardcover. The cover makes you feel that everything is dry and not living.
Share what you think? For those that have read this book, do these covers match the story in any way?

MY THOUGHTS: Well that nearly never happens to me, lol I have a addiction to buying books everyday! My hubby freaks, but it's part of our family budget that I need my books :)
I usually check Amazon to see what's new, or read our Sunday Paper to check out the book section. And I always read the New York Bestsellers list.

With Victoria clouding her mind with thoughts of revenge Danielle is caught off guard when someone else wants to make her pay for her past transgressions.
Not needing the added drama Victoria is still torn between her feelings toward Greg and her undying love for Joshua. With new knowledge that Danielle has been released from jail; Victoria is stunned into disbelief knowing that Joshua has not been honest with her.
Things heat up when Joshua catches wind of Victoria’s affair and Caroline wants her husband back by any means necessary. Will this love story end in tragedy or will these couples learn to forgive and forget? Find out in part II of Trouble In Paradise.
Q: How did you come up with the title?
A: I knew the concept of the story would have a lot of drama in it and the name of the condominium’s the main couple in the story Victoria and Joshua move to are called Paradise Condominiums. So from then on Trouble In Paradise was formed.
Q: What sparked the idea of your novel?
A: I’ve always had these stories in my mind running rampant. They would keep me up late at night and I would toss and turn not able to sleep because the characters would be doing all sorts of things. I knew I had to release these people somehow and writing is the best way for me.
Q: Did you experience any of the things you wrote about?
A: Yes, actually. My main character Victoria Mathis is from Memphis Tennessee, I’ve lived there before and this is how I came up with her hometown. Also there is a part in the story where Victoria has a car accident. The accident I’m describing is one I’ve had before. Everything in the accident scene actually happen to me.
Q: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
A: I wrote Trouble In Paradise purely for entertainment purposes. When writing I didn’t have any specific messages to relay but there are a lot of them in the story.
Q: While you were writing, did you feel as if you were one of the characters?
A: I can’t say that I felt I was one of the characters but I can say some of them have some of my qualities. I mixed my character’s up, so they hold character’s from people I know or have come across before.
Q: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
A: I would like to thank my reader’s for picking up Trouble In Paradise and giving me the opportunity to take you to another world, make you scream at the pages and twist your mind up! You rock and I promise to continue to bring it on!
Q: What are your expectations for the book?
A: I would love for Trouble In Paradise to get into the hands of millions of readers of romance, drama, and suspense.
Q: Who designed the covers?
A: Hot Book Covers designed my cover for Trouble In Paradise and One Tale Publishing my publishing company designed Vengeful Intentions part II of Trouble In Paradise.
Q: What is your favorite theme/genre to write about?
A: Romance, Drama and Suspense.
Q: What books are you reading now??
A: I have a lot of books on my shelf but I haven’t had the time to start a new one. The last book I read was Broken Promises Never Mend by Allison Edwards.
Q: Can you share a little of your current work with us?
A: Sure.
Here's a teaser:
This is Victoria’s first encounter with Greg the other man:
Greg opened the door to a huge condo on the upper east side of Chicago. “Wow this is huge,” Victoria said. Everything in the living room was white. “I’m guessing this is not a room you sit in very often.”
“No, not quite.” He gestured to another room.
Victoria walked in and admired the red and blacks, in this room the colors really pop off each other. There was a red modern rectangular couch sitting at the base of the wall, a black area rug with red and black table settings on top. There were black leather chairs with red throw pillows sitting opposite of the couch. On the wall behind that was a full bar, with bar stools and a fully staffed liquor shelf. “Nice,” she said.
“Make yourself comfortable.”
“Can I use your restroom?” she asked.
“Sure it’s the door down the hall to the right.”
She walked down the hall and into a huge room with an all-white grand piano with golden keys. Victoria caught herself standing over it lightly touching the keys. This room was even more magnificent than the others. Whoa, who was this guy? she wondered. She still didn’t really know what he did. He said he owned his own business but that could mean any number of things especially when it came to black men. Hell for all I know he could be Tony Montana himself. Then all he would need to do is pull out the coke. She snickered at the thought. What am I thinking?
“Do you like this room?”
Victoria was startled; she hadn’t realized he had walked in the room on her. “Oh, um yeah it’s very nice.”
“Yeah, I had to hire a designer because I would’ve been seriously lost without one.”
“I’m sure,” she said. “Sorry for snooping, I couldn’t help myself, your place is so huge and spacious, there’s a good energy in here.” She walked toward him.
“No need to apologize,” he said closing the gap. “You can look around all you like.”
He was standing right over her now. She looked up into his hazel brown eyes, and what sexy eyes they were. “You have some beautiful eyes,” he said.
He touched the side of her face. She was soft, her skin felt as creamy as it looked. He kissed her on the left side of her face, then on the right, then on the lips. She didn’t back away; he kissed her lips this time staying a little longer. She started to kiss him back and he deepened the kiss and put his arms around her. He put his tongue in her mouth and enveloped her in his arms. She started to tingle all over; oddly enough she started tingling in her ears, then her nose, then every other part that was supposed to tingle. She couldn’t believe she was feeling like this and she couldn’t seem to stop herself. His hands started to roam down her side and he squeezed her butt with a firm grip. He picked her up, being a reflex she swung her legs around him and he pressed her up against the wall. He held her arms up while he kissed, licked and sucked on her neck and chest hungrily. She heard him let out a low growl and it ignited a fire deep within her that she didn’t know she had. Damn, she thought. She was about to let out her inner animal when she heard a familiar ring tone. It was her phone. Shit, she thought.
“Wait,” she said breathing hard trying to softly but force-fully push him back. He slowed down but kept kissing her.
“You’re so sweet,” he said, “you taste sweet already and I haven’t even tasted from your garden,” he said in a low sexy voice.
“Shit,” she said. This man wanted to fuck her in his animal form and she wanted to get in her animal form and let him. She always felt if she could be any animal it would be a panther, because they were sexy, black as night, quick on their feet and those eyes are so beautiful. He was still kissing her. Her phone had stopped ringing. They started back up kissing deeply and passionately and Victoria saw Joshua’s face. She closed her eyes tight and shook her head. I know this is not happening to me, she thought. Men get there freak on anytime they feel like it but when it comes to a woman. . . . She shook her head.
“You ok?” Greg asked.
She sighed. “We have to stop.”
He dropped his head then looked back up at her. “Are you sure?” he said kissing her again and again. Her phone started to ring. She shuttered. Greg was about to go pass the point of no return. He started down her chest and licked in circles on her lace bra where her nipples were. She started to squirm and breathe heavily. She started kissing on the top and side of his face. She let out a soft moan. She pulled his face up and they started to kiss again. Victoria could feel Greg growing in between her legs and she started to grind on him. Her phone rang again.
“Damn it!” she said. “Stop baby hold up.” He slowly let her legs unwrap from around him and she jumped down. She smoothed back her hair and made an attempt to straighten her clothes. “Um, I never did get to make it to the bathroom,” she said. He took a step back and pointed across the hall. “We cool?” she asked.
“Of course,” he sounded sincere when he said it.
She walked across the hall and into the bathroom. She closed the door and turned on the light. She washed her hands then splashed water on her face. She played around in her hair smoothing it back so it would look tamed. She had been through a lot in the course of forty-eight hours and it was starting to show, she knew she should get some rest. She wondered if coming here was a mistake. Yes she was mad at Joshua all this drama was because he was still fucking his ex-girlfriend. “For six fucking years,” she scoffed, it was a complete joke.
She started to feel stupid for thinking she was in a committed relationship with a man who truly loved her. And all the while he had been cheating on her. She shook her head looking at herself in the mirror. “No, I’m not going to feel guilty, besides we’re not having sex.” She turned off the light and walked out the bathroom. She walked down the hallway and into the red room. She had nicknamed it already. There was a glass of white wine sitting on the table in front of the spot she had last sat in. She walked over to it and picked it up, taking a sip and looking at him. Who was she kidding, she had a feeling he would be rocking her boat before the end of the night.

Q: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
A: Eric Jerome Dickey and Jackie Collins would be my favorite authors. I love everything about their writing styles. They’re romance, drama, suspense, and action packed books are just marvelous! J

This is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews. I think this is so much fun! Join in and meet other bloggers too.
What is Stacking The Shelves all about?
We are all book lovers and the need to share our enthusiasm is sometimes overwhelming. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
If you’re anything like me, you are probably hoarding books and even though you are excited about your latest book arrival, it might be a while before you get to review it and Stacking The Shelves is a good way to express your undying enthusiasm for those titles!
This is what I've stacked on my shelves this week:
Inhale (Just Breathe, #1)
by Kendall Grey
Strangers in reality, inseparable in dreams…
After years of suffocating under her boss’s scrutiny, whale biologist Zoe Morgan finally lands a job as director of a tagging project in Hervey Bay, Australia. Success Down Under all but guarantees her the promotion of a lifetime, and Zoe won’t let anything—or anyone—stand in her way. Not the whale voices she suddenly hears in her head, not the ex who won’t take no for an answer, and especially not the gorgeous figment of her imagination who keeps saving her from the fiery hell of her dreams.
Gavin Cassidy hasn’t been called to help a human Wyldling in over a year, which is fine by him. Still blaming himself for the death of his partner, he keeps the guilt at bay by indulging in every excess his rock star persona affords. That is, until he’s summoned to protect Zoe from hungry Fyre Elementals and learns his new charge is the key to restoring order in the dying Dreaming. He never expects to fall for the feisty Dr. Morgan…nor does he realize he may have to sacrifice the woman he loves to save an entire country.
*This book contains graphic language, sex, and some violence. Not suitable for readers under the age of 18.
**The author will donate all profits from the sale of the JUST BREATHE trilogy to programs that educate people about whales and the challenges they face

Predestined (Existence Trilogy, #2)
by Abbi Glines
You would think after helping save her boyfriend from an eternity in Hell that things would go back to normal. Well, as normal as life can be when you can see souls and your boyfriend is Death. But for Pagan Moore, things are just getting weirder.
The high school quarterback and reigning heartthrob, Leif Montgomery, is missing. While the town is in a frenzy of worry, Pagan is a nervous wreck for other reasons. Apparently good ‘ol Leif isn’t your average teenage boy. He isn’t even human. According to Death, Leif doesn’t have a soul. The quarterback may have skipped town but he’s still showing up in Pagan’s dreams... uninvited.
Dank has known from the beginning Leif wasn’t human. But he hadn’t worried about a simple soulless creature. Now, he realizes he made a grave mistake. Pagan’s soul has been marked since birth as a restitution, to a spirit so dark not even Death walks near it. Dank knows saving Pagan’s soul won’t be easy but Pagan is his. And he’s already proven he’ll defy Heaven to keep her. If Hell wants a piece of him too, then bring it on.
The Fallen Star (Fallen Star, #1)
By Jessica Sorensen

FRIDAY FLASH FICTION

Flash Friday Fiction (FFF) is a post hosted by Laura Besley at *Living, Loving, and Writing*. Flash Fiction is short enough to read while you're waiting for the kettle to boil. It's fairly quick to write too, but with it being so short, every word has to count. As an aspiring writer and lover of fiction, I think this is awesome to read AND comment. Enjoy!
Friday Flash Fiction - week 7!
Hunger Pains
The only reason I was in that mad woman’s bedroom was because there wasn’t a scrap of food to be found anywhere else in the house. I was settling down for a nibble on some crisps she’d obviously dropped, when I heard her fling back the bed sheets. I panicked and thought if I sit really still she might not notice me. She swung her long tanned legs out of bed and tiptoed into the bathroom. She switched on the light – God, I hate it when they do that – and blinded me. But I didn’t let out a peep. I heard the tap run and she flicked the light off again. Was I safe? Standing only inches away from me, she switched on the bedside lamp. I was staring right into her blue eyes. As if in slow motion I knew what was going to happen; she let go of the glass and it shattered into a hundred pieces and the water splashed in my face. I needed to run and get out. I dropped all the food and scarpered. So, that’s why I’m late and have no food. Sorry.
God, Jerry, you’re useless. L. Besley
MY THOUGHTS: I want to know more! Is this a child or adult? I think whoever it is, is being held captive.
What do you think?

Get Me Off The Shelf! is my edition of From the Review Pile from*Stepping Out of the Page*hosted by Stephanie. This will be a weekly meme on Thursdays.
The aim of this meme is to showcase books that you own but haven't yet got around to reading, in order to give the book some extra publicity. I thought it'd be helpful to readers/reviewers as well as publishers/authors to try and showcase books that you own but haven't had time to get around to.
This week I'm spotlighting:
The Awakening and The Struggle (The Vampire Diaries #1-2)
By L.J. Smith
Published June 26,2007
MY THOUGHTS: Well, I went through my stack of books in a box, which was in my walk-in closet. Ta-da. . .
Here again (just like last week) is another favorite of mines that I just can't seem to pick up and read. And again, I love the TV series of Vampire Diaries. Maybe I shouldn't get books that have a TV version. Hmmm...
So share what's you need to get off your bookshelf, or floor, or box . . .

This meme Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by *Breaking the Spine* "Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I'm anticipating the following upcoming book, which seems freaking awesome!!!:
Snow White Sorrow (The Grimm Diaries #1)
by Cameron Jace
Expected Publication: October 30, 2012
What if all you knew about fairy tales was wrong?
Sixteen year old Loki Blackstar is no Prince Charming. His mother is a ghost. His only friend is a red Cadillac that talks to him through the radio. He looks like an Angel but acts like jerk. No wonder he has been banned from Heaven, which is the least of his troubles. Loki needs a job to pay for school and support himself.
Still, Loki has a rare gift: He is a Dreamhunter. One of the few in the world who can hunt and kill immortal demons in their dreams so they never wake up again.
When Loki is sent to kill a sixteen-year-old vampire girl the locals call Snow White Sorrow, he is pulled into a magical but dangerous world. The locals believe the monster to be Snow White.
The real Snow White... living in the ruins of an ancient castle in a small town. She is described as horribly beautiful, terrifyingly enchanting, and wickedly lovely.
What he finds instead is a beautiful monster girl filled with rage and hurt, who has an epic untold story to tell of things such like why the Brothers Grimm altered the fairy tale, who the Evil Queen really is, where the mirror came from, and who possessed it.
Snow White has killed every person who has dared come near the castle where she once lived with the queen. Mysteriously, she lets Loki live.
This book sounds totally crazy, right? I can't wait!
Well there are prequels to this book that is already out which I'm going to read ...
Snow White Blood Red (The Grimm Diaries Prequel #1)
Ashes To Ashes and Cinder to Cinder (The Grimm Diaries Prequel #2)
Published May 29, 2012 Kindle Edition

BOOK CHATTER

Book Chatter is a Meme that I created and will be posted on Mondays. I just thought it would be like a conversational type of Meme sharing any thoughts that we have about the Book Blog World through out the day. We can talk about what we're trying to accomplish for today. What our goals are for the week. Any book news.
I'll start the Chatter by telling you my goals and other busy stuff going on for the day:
1. Well I'm suppose to start reading, A Want so Wicked by Suzanne Young which is available tomorrow, but realized that I should begin reading, A Need so Beautiful, first which is also by Suzanne Young. Hopefully I'll get through the first book by the end of the week. Keep you posted.
2. Another goal of mine is to try and get an author interview set up by the weeks end. I have yet to do any, so this is going to be nerve racking and fun!
3. This one is on-going, so it will probably be in every Blog Chit-Chat post: Writing a few hours a day. My alter ego will not forgive me if I don't.
That's it for me.
What are your goals today and this week?

*Synopsis by Kye Phennicie*
Kye's thoughts:
I personally liked this book because it was full of fantasy. It's well blended with modern day time to seem almost real. But my favorite part was the action of this book. It was really exciting and got my heart beating.
I would definitely recommend this book to someone who loves fantasy!
