GET OFF THE SHELF!: A THIEF OF NIGHTSHADE

Get Me Off The Shelf! is inspired by *From the Review Pile from*Stepping Out of the Page* hosted by Stephanie.

The aim of this meme is to showcase books that you own, but just haven't got around to reviewing or read yet. It could be a book you bought yesterday or years ago. Maybe you even have a few books on your eReader just waiting to be swiped to open the pages. It will also give the book some extra publicity!

Get Me off the Shelf
This week's 'Get Me Off the Shelf' book is on my Kindle:

A Thief of Nightshade
 by J.S. Chancellor
Kindle Edition, Pages: 314
Published: April 2, 2012
Rhemalda Publishing
A Thief of Nightshade

Synopsis:

Avalar isn’t real.

At least, it wasn’t supposed to be.

Aubrey never expected to fall in love with and marry her graduate writing professor Jullian. His life’s work, a grim fantasy titled ‘A Thief of Nightshade’ encompassed everything Aubrey hated about fairy tales and make-believe.

After Jullian goes missing and is eventually presumed dead, Aubrey discovers just how make-believe the world of ‘Nightshade’ is…

Not only is Jullian alive and well in Avalar, he’s at the mercy of the Dark Fae, condemned to a fate worse than death, with no memory of Aubrey or his time in her world. In order to save him, she’ll have to confront more than just the demons in her past, but the very real ones that await her in a place she never thought could exist.

All of them will do everything in their power to stop her.

my thoughtsWhy haven't I read this yet?! I dunno ... you know I'm a junkee for covers and well, this cover is awesome coolness! The story seems good too.

Like I always say ... I'll get to it one day ... maybe.

So share what's you need to 'Get off your shelf', eReader, floor, or box . . . I love comments!

BOOK TOUR STOP: MICHAEL SUSSMAN

I would like to thank Leah Gonzalez of
book tour stopNovel Publicity, for giving me the opportunity to be apart of promoting Author Michael Sussman's YA fantasy/paranormal novel, Crashing Eden. This tour runs from August 6th to August 17th.

Don't you think the book cover is awesome? After reading the book's synopsis, this is a good story with a twist on how we might visualize God.

About the Author

Michael Sussman is the author of Crashing Eden, a YA fantasy/paranormal novel, and Otto Grows Down, a children’s picture book featuring illustrations by Scott Magoon.
Dr. Sussman is a clinical psychologist and has also published two books for mental health professionals. He’s the author of A Curious Calling: Unconscious Motivations for Practicing Psychotherapy and the editor of A Perilous Calling: The Hazards of Psychotherapy Practice. He resides in the Boston area with his son, Ollie.

                                 Publisher: Solstice Publishing
                                                      Synopsis

For one boy and his friends, the path to Paradise comes at a cost—one they may not be prepared to pay.

When a biking accident leaves 17-year-old Joss Kazdan with the ability to hear things others can't, reality as he knows it begins to unravel.

A world of legends exists beyond the ordinary life he's always known, and he is transported to the same Paradise he's studying in World Mythology. But the strange gets even stranger when his new friends build a device that delivers people through the gates of the Garden of Eden.

Now Samael, the Creator God, is furious. As Samael rains down his apocalyptic devastation on the ecstasy-seeking teens, Joss and his companions must find a way to appease Samael—or the world will be destroyed forever.

TEASER TUESDAY

Teaser Tuesday is a meme hosted by MizB
of *Should Be Reading*

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

1. Grab your current read
2. Open to a random page
3. Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away. You don't want to ruin the book for others)
4. Share the title & amp, author too, so that other Tuesday Teaser participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teaser.

I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what to read next, so I'm reading samples of a few books on my Kindle to help make a choice. Remember I'm one of those, 'what am I in the mood for' kind of reader :) So I'm thinking about this one:

Crave (The Clann, #1)
by Melissa Darnell
Kindle Edition, first published in Oct. 18, 2011
Crave
"Even in the middle of a noisy mass of students, one girl's laugh grabbed my attention..."

"But every time Savannah colbert laughed, the husky sound somehow managed to reach out and twist up everything inside me."

Kindle sample, Location 405 of 465, 87%

"Sudden and total fear had me grabbing his shoulder at the base of his neck without thinking. I pulled his face close and growled, ''Are you out of your freakin' mind?" If any other descendant heard you talking like that and told the elders, you'd be history."

Kindle sample, Location 440 of 465, 94%

I love comments! Please share your teasers . . .

MUSING MONDAY

MusingMonday-2
MUSING MONDAYS… is a weekly meme hosted by MizB from I Should Be Reading, she will ask a book/reading-related question, and you answer with your own thoughts on the topic.

This week’s musing asks…

What attracts you to a book blog? What puts you off in a book blog? Do you share personal stuff on your book blog?

my thoughtsFirst off, just being a "book" blog gets my attention, so I have to check it out. I enjoy a blog when it has a 'pop out' at you vibe. If it's organized in away that I  can search for interesting things on it is a plus. I also enjoy blogs that are updated on a regular basis, meaning at least posting 3 times a week. I love, love, love when we get good comments and/or memes that offer more insight into our book world. Also if the blogger talks a bit about what their honest thoughts are concerning different topics.

Now as for blogs that turns me off ... well I would say, maybe if the genre doesn't match my liking. But even still I tend to  take a quick once over in case something grabs my attention:D Also if the blog hasn't posted anything for a week, well that's the last time I'll be visiting(unless they post they're on vacation, or sick, etc.)

I will enlighten other bloggers with limited information about my personal life, IF it involves reading books. Like for instance, my children cramped my reading schedule so I didn't get to read today, or at night I completely ignore my hubby because I need to read before I go to bed( Ha! that's sooo true).

All in all, I enjoy all book blogs because the one thing we have in common is that we love reading!

Thanks for visiting! Come on tell me a little something. I just love comments :)

This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
If you’re anything like me, you are probably hoarding books and even though you are excited about your latest book arrival, it might be a while before you get to review it and Stacking The Shelves is a good way to express your undying enthusiasm for those titles!

This is what I've stacked on my shelves this week:

Falling Under (Falling Under, #1)

Theia Alderson has always led a sheltered life in the small California town of Serendipity Falls. But when a devastatingly handsome boy appears in the halls of her school, Theia knows she's seen Haden before- not around town, but in her dreams.

As the Haden of both the night and the day beckons her closer one moment and pushes her away the next, the only thing Theia knows for sure is that the incredible pull she feels towards him is stronger than her fear.

And when she discovers what Haden truly is, Theia's not sure if she wants to resist him, even if the cost is her soul.

Every Other Day
by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Kindle Edition
Published: February 2nd 2012 by Quercus (first published December 27th 2011)

Every Other Day

Every other day, Kali D'Angelo is a normal sixteen-year-old girl. She goes to public high school. She attends pep rallies. She's human.

And then every day in between . . .She's something else entirely.

Though she still looks like herself, every twenty-four hours predatory instincts take over and Kali becomes a feared demon-hunter with the undeniable urge to hunt, trap, and kill zombies, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures. Kali has no idea why she is the way she is, but she gives in to instinct anyway. Even though the government considers it environmental terrorism.

When Kali notices a mark on the lower back of a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these creatures. Kali has twenty-four hours to save her and, unfortunately, she'll have to do it as a human. With the help of a few new friends, Kali takes a risk that her human body might not survive. . .and learns the secrets of her mysterious condition in the process.

TGIF

TGIF is a fun meme hosted by Ginger of GReads! Every week is an awesome new question, here's this weeks:

This Friday's Question:
Book Olympics: In the spirit of the Olympics, which books would you give the gold, silver, and bronze medals to? It can be from any genre, new or old.

My answers is based on some of the books I read that I kept talking about, so far this summer!

Gold:            Silver:            Bronze:

Fifty Shades Trilogy Bundle: Fifty Shades of Grey; Fifty Shades Darker; Fifty Shades Freed        Existence (Existence Trilogy, #1)                         A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2)

So what's your answer? I love reading comments!

BOOK BLOGGER HOP

Book Blogger HopThis is a meme on Friday's hosted by Crazy for Books! Book Blogger Hop - August 3 - 9, place to connect book bloggers and readers every week!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:

When a book goes “viral” (Hunger Games, Fifty Shades, Twilight), do you rush out to read it like everyone else, even if it’s not in your typical genre?

MY ANSWERWell let's see, I only rush out and buy it if it's in my typical genre. Yes, I ran out or downloaded Fifty Shades, Twilight... If it's out of my normal reading material, I will buy for family/friends whom I know would like the "viral" book, usually as a present for a birthday,  Mother's day, etc.

Would you? Share, I love comments!

Love is Darkness (Valerie Dearborn, #1)

Love is Darkness (Valerie Dearborn #1)
by Caroline Hanson
Kindle Edition, 1st Edition, 323 pages
Published: August 27th 2011
Publisher: Host of the Hills

Valerie Dearborn wants a cotton candy life, but it’s more like a puffer fish: pointy, unusual, and—if not prepared exactly right—deadly.

In London for graduate school, Val knows she's finally free. Her father and ex-almost-boyfriend are back in California and she's out of the Vampire hunting biz for good. Or is she?

She draws the attention of Lucas, a 1600 year old Vampire, and King to his kind. He’s also wicked hot. As golden as Lucifer, and just as tempting, he makes Valerie an offer she can't refuse— help him find out if the Others (Empaths, Fey and Werewolves) still exist or he'll stop protecting those she loves.

Lucas tells her that Empaths were a Vampire’s biggest weakness before going extinct hundreds of years ago. While the Fey or a Werewolf might kill a Vampire, an Empath could enslave them, seducing or harming with emotions at will. The one detail he leaves out? Valerie is an Empath.

And after 1600 years of an emotionless existence, Lucas wants Valerie like a recovering alcoholic wants a wine cooler.

Can she keep those she loves alive, stop Lucas from munching on her, survive a fanged revolution and still find a way to have that boring, normal life she’s always wanted? Probably not, but boy is she gonna try!

What's new on your shelf? Please share, I love to read!
